Yes. The Bolder is located close to Preikestolen, one of Norway’s most famous hikes. It takes approximately 10 minutes by car from The Bolder to Preikestolen Basecamp, where the hike to Preikestolen starts.
The hike itself usually takes around 4 hours return, depending on pace, weather and trail conditions. Read more about the hike here https://preikestolen365.com/
-
The Lysefjord Panorama Trail starts at Høllesliheia / The Bolder and is one of the most scenic hikes in the Lysefjord area.
The trail runs close to the fjord for large parts of the route, passing mountain cliffs, gorges, viewpoints and landmarks such as Skjerajuvet, Fantahålå and Fantapytten - often described as Lysefjord’s own “infinity pool”.
The full trail from The Bolder to Preikestolen Basecamp is approximately 9 km, takes around 4–5 hours, and is classified as a demanding hike with about 600 metres of elevation gain. There are some exposed sections, so good hiking shoes and suitable weather conditions are important.
For the best experience, Lysefjorden365 recommends starting at Høllesliheia / The Bolder and finishing at Preikestolen Basecamp, rather than walking the same route back. From Preikestolen Basecamp, you can arrange transport back to The Bolder. The trail is mostly available year-round, but conditions vary with weather, snow, ice and visibility.

Yes. The Lysefjord can be experienced by boat, and there are several seasonal options for fjord cruises, private boat tours and transport on the fjord.
Most scheduled fjord cruises depart from Stavanger or nearby harbour Forsand, depending on the season and route. Guests staying at The Bolder can also arrange private fjord experiences, RIB tours or boat safaris on request.
If you are planning to visit places such as Flørli, Lysebotn or Kjerag, boat transport may be part of the journey, but schedules vary by season and should always be checked in advance.
The Bolder is located close to the Lysefjord, but not directly at a public ferry quay. We recommend planning boat transport in advance.
For private fjord experiences, please contact us and we can help suggest suitable options.
